How much does a website cost in 2026: UK, US, UAE and Canada

Most small-business websites built by a professional cost between £2,500 and £10,000 in the UK, $3,000 and $15,000 in the USA, AED 3,500 and AED 18,000 in the UAE and C$3,000 and C$15,000 in Canada. Online stores, multilingual sites and websites connected to a CRM cost more. Those are published 2026 ranges from agencies in each market (sources at the end), and they are wide for a reason: “a website” can mean a five-page brochure site or a platform with logins, payments and integrations.

This guide breaks the number down: typical prices in each country, what moves a quote up or down, the running costs people forget, and how to get a quote you can actually compare.

What actually drives the price

Two quotes for “a ten-page website” can differ by a factor of five. These are the questions that explain the gap.

1. How many different page layouts you need

Page count matters less than the number of unique templates. Ten service pages that share one layout are cheaper to build than five pages that each look different. A good agency designs a set of reusable sections, so adding page eleven later costs almost nothing.

2. Custom design or a template

A theme bought for $60 can launch quickly, but it brings its own limits and extra code. A custom design, often prepared in Figma, costs more up front and fits your content exactly. If you already have approved designs, a Figma-to-website build removes the design cost from the quote.

3. The platform

WordPress suits most content-led business sites and keeps editing in your hands. Shopify is usually the fastest route to a reliable online store, with a monthly subscription (Shopify Basic was listed at C$49 per month in Canada in 2025) and paid apps on top. Drupal fits organisations with complex content, permissions and several languages. A React frontend makes sense for app-like features such as configurators or dashboards. Each choice changes both the build cost and the running cost.

4. Integrations

Forms that only send an email are simple. Forms that create a lead in Salesforce with the right fields, route it to the right person and avoid duplicates take planning and testing. The same goes for payment providers, booking systems, email marketing tools and stock systems. Integrations are where cheap quotes most often fall short, so ask what is included. Our CRM integration page explains what this work involves.

5. Languages and markets

A bilingual site is more than a translated copy. Arabic needs right-to-left layouts for UAE audiences. Businesses in Quebec need French content. Each language adds design checks, content work and testing.

6. Accessibility and legal requirements

Accessible, privacy-compliant websites take more care in design and testing. Relevant rules include UK GDPR and cookie consent in the UK, the ADA in the US and Ontario’s AODA in Canada. Building these in from the start is far cheaper than fixing them later.

7. Content

Who writes the text, who supplies the photos and who moves the content from an old site? Copywriting, photography and migration are often missing from headline prices. If your content is ready, the build is faster and cheaper, which is why we suggest you plan your content before the design.

The running costs people forget

  • Hosting and domain: from a few hundred dollars a year for a typical business site.
  • Licences and apps: premium plugins, Shopify apps and paid integrations, often billed monthly.
  • Maintenance: updates, backups, security monitoring and small fixes, usually a monthly or yearly plan.
  • Content updates and growth: new pages, campaigns and articles after launch.
  • Tax: add 20% VAT in the UK and 5% VAT in the UAE if the quote excludes it.

A useful rule: budget for the first year, not just the launch.

How to get a quote you can compare

Quotes are only comparable when they answer the same brief. Send each agency the same short document covering:

  1. What the website must achieve: leads, sales, bookings or information.
  2. A list of the pages or page types you need.
  3. Which content is ready and which needs writing.
  4. Every system it must connect to, such as your CRM, payments or booking tool.
  5. Languages and countries you serve.
  6. Two or three websites you like, and why.
  7. Your deadline and your budget range.

Then ask each agency what happens after launch, who owns the website and its content, and what is excluded from the price.

How Mused Agency prices a website

We quote a fixed price after a short call and a written scope, so you know what you are paying for before work starts. Every website we build includes responsive layouts, accessibility basics, performance checks, an on-page SEO setup and a walkthrough of how to edit it, because a website is only finished when your team can run it.

If you have a brief, or just a rough idea, tell us about your project and we will reply with questions and a recommended approach.

Frequently asked questions

Is a cheaper website a worse website?

Not always. A small, well-built site on a good template can serve a new business well. The risk is in what is left out: integrations, accessibility, performance and support. Compare what each quote includes, not only the total.

How long does it take to build a website?

A small business site usually takes four to eight weeks from brief to launch. Online stores and integrated or multilingual sites take longer. Content that is ready on day one is the biggest time saver.

Will I own my website?

You should. Make sure the contract gives you ownership of the content, design and code, and that hosting and domain accounts are in your name.

Can I start small and add features later?

Yes, and it is often the smartest route. Launch the pages that bring in enquiries first, then add an online store, a CRM connection or a second language once you know what your visitors need.
